I think thats the whole point here is one person with more than 1 account. That way they can rob all they like with no fear of losing anything. If they are successful then they rob their alt account with their main to increase their funds. Combine that with macro lockout to stop people entering their house at all and there you have the ultimate exploit to win the contest.
IMO these people ARE cheaters and ruin it for everyone else playing the game properly.
Yes I have encountered exactly the same thing. People do have multi accounts. I don't but I know there are people that do.
Yes, it is on the server so you do not have to be in game all the time.
Yes names are allocated to you from a random calculation
Wow Arakira that would be perfect! Locking a house for 24hrs unless a change is made. That would be sweet. I found 1hr was just to quick as I would go to bed and find repeat scouts/deaths and then a robbery cleaning me out before I got up in the morning. However the 24hr chills prevents people from re-entering my house and building up my cash through bounties... well doesn't prevent it but slows it down to a snails pace.
Think of it like, instead of a refund... you are just sticking a lead on the dog/cat/family member and moving them to a new location.
If the family is killed you don't need a path.
I think the 24hrs chill timer is a bit long. 1hr was definitely too short as you could re-attempt a house and map it while the person is asleep. 24hrs tho seems a bit too long as people cant re-enter the house again. I think 4hrs would be good.
Just a thought.
I just found out the hard way that trap doors don't conduct electricity. ... lost about 30k. Start over and built a crappy starter and someone walked in and died giving me almost 40k! jumped into house.. "currently being robbed". Got cleaned out and had to commit suicide and start over.. /cry
Should have read the wiki instead of assuming.
Not speaking english as a first language should never be frowned upon or have the poster hassled regardless of any mistakes. Constructive criticism is always helpful for game development. Everyone is entitled to an opinion without flames or rage.
I do feel this game is not for everyone, but I myself love it. Even the permadeath is good. Frustration from dying takes me back to the old cartridge days where you couldn't just save for the sake of saving.
1.- The appeal to the game even though evil is not really a negative. There are a lot of evil games, look at GTA.
2.- double checking and triple checking (especially after dying a few times to your own traps) is a good idea. The strategy of making something complex and taking your time to not die is pretty much half the game.
3.- Everyone is different. To some people, they love it.
4.- That's part of the idea to mapping a house and making sure you can back out. Robbing is extremely profitable. You can buy 10k worth of tools and complete a house for 120k. Thats a nice profit.
5.- Isn't the very nature of gaming to waste time? How can any gaming be productive?
This is just my opinion, as I said everyone is entitled to their own. Everyone has different tastes and games can't cater to everyone 100%
It seems when I hit 50k I get robbed. Even by rearranging my house path.
Tempted to suicide and make a whole new house. /sigh.
I gotta admit I hit that filter button probably at least 20-30 times an hour depending on what I'm doing.
Only thing he needs now is ANDROID! Then I can log in from anywhere and watch security tapes of people dying hehehehehe!
Guess by all the new posts I've been too busy raiding houses XD.
First up..... CoD 5 was the best (IMO). Multiplayer free for alls are fun and the headquarters too but the Nazi zombies game mode rocks! its kinda like left for dead but no big boss nasties. Just end up running round trying to get more ammo and not be overrun.
Secondly.... Staying $16 forever may seem like its not decreasing in price but due to inflation it really is. Also we're talking permanent $16, not $120 being discounted to $20 like the big games that go on sales.
Lastly.... A lifetime server access for $16 is a bargain. Its not buying the game as its open source.
Not just alt's, friends too. It doesn't stop it completely but makes it at least a little harder to be exploited.
server wipe is not needed. I went from 1k to 50k to $0 all in one day. The top players will be hunted by other top players. money will cycle.
LOL thats it exactly. Altho was gutted that someone ran right through my whole house perfectly and didn't even need their tools. pure luck. No one had made it halfway before let alone scouted the whole thing.
There is a reason you can't see your own name. I wondered about the same thing originally but its made that way for a good reason.
inactivity or some macro setup should be able to be tracked. People that are playing unfairly should have their funds wiped.
Paranoia is over...
someone made it through my whole house and made every choice perfectly. Cleaned me out /cry
I leave my game on the tapes list and just click the "filter" button to refresh it.
I've had maybe a dozen houses so far but keep dying from exploring other peoples houses or even from accidently misplacing a trap and dying on self-test.
Once my house amount hit 2k I got quite nervous and had to spend it. Now it keeps going up and its really having an impact on me.
Is my house good enough?
Should I rearrange it?
Should I change X trap for Y trap?
Maybe I should rebuild it?
What if I got out for a few hours to do some shopping, someone might clear me out!
The more $ I have the more equipped people will be. If I have to self-test with no tools then its possible for someone with no tools to complete it... let alone armed with a crapload of tools.
LOL!!!!
(how to know you have done a good job on a game)
Anyone else having the same fears?
The measure of quality with sales is waaaay off the mark. A perfect example would be Call of Duty games. IMO the quality of these games has deteriorated greatly over the years however the sales for these games breaks records almost every time. TBH I'd rather play this than CoD Ghosts.
Most games these days go for the graphics over gameplay. Super real graphics and effects and meh gameplay with little replay value. That way you get bored and buy their next game. Here its about a great game made not to sucker in masses to forking out money or to be boring super fast and on to the next one. It seems more like someone who made a game THEY wanted to play and are selling it for enough to help pay bills but cheap enough to build a good community. Becoming super rich is not a part of the equation.
I could see a lot of different options he could have done with the pricing model. I think even myself I may have done it differently, but I do not disagree with this pricing model at all.
Its a great "sales tactic", about getting people that WANT to play so he has people to play with. If that is wrong and selling mass games to people that probably will never play them just be become super rich is right... I'd rather talk and hang with the wrong people.
Well this seems to make perfect sense, from both ends.
1) Found out I had a dodgy line filter while halfway through a burglary and lost my net connection. took probably a good 15-20mins to get back online and found it was a wipe. Was gutted but it cant be helped or it would be exploited from people DCing on purpose.
2) I have had a doormat suicide and it puzzled me till I found this thread.
You are a rare breed Jason. A genuine honest person that isn't looking for money by ripping people off.
"But I really want those people to save their money for other things and NOT waste it on my game, at any price."
IMO the problem is that big game companies try to sell their games at overpriced amounts. So they have these sales to entice people to buy. The flip side to that is your pricing model. ...Here's the price, its not overboard its realistic, if you want it buy it.
I don't like the fact that games come out for $100+. It seems really overpriced. However, looking at the sales tactic which seems to be running rampant, the games NEED to be that much so when the sales hit its reduces the price to the intended amount. Its complete bull.
Stick to your guns on this POV regardless of any negative feedback you may get. I think you are on the right side of this debate. Imagine if EVERY game had this pricing model. We would see CoD or BF games being released for $10-$15 instead of the ridiculous pricing we see today. People that cant afford those high price tags would actually be able to get the games they want rather than have to wait for sale X.
