So I am not going to reveal the trap just yet, but after I died shortly after having bought my first painting, I tried 2king a whole bunch of houses (almost all houses that would be worth it) with no luck. Finally I had a successfull robbery in a 4.9k house, but with a live wife, netting me only 3k building dollars, as I did not nail the wife also.
So I was on a very strict budget and decided to try a small variant to a very well known trap. Only 23 dollars was left over to lure people in and of course that did not get me many visitors.
I was lucky however, and I got a free 2k abandoned house, spent around 1200 on a slight upgrade and left around 800 to lure people in. Now we get to the importance of this story:
My new trap has claimed 3 bounties so far... Two of which have indeed -not- been the usual 100 dollar bounties of a suicide robber but in fact a 4600 and a 8100 bounty has been claimed. I am interested to see if the trend will continue.
What are your experiences with new twists on old traps and fooling people that should not be dying in your house with them?

Was that your house with the top-side approach to a wife intercept trigger? Dog behind a door along the top wall at the camera shift when approached from the left, windows separating the family from the player?

I'd rather not comment on the nature of my trap.
Edit: When it's been played out enough and goes back to just getting 100 dollar bounties I will reveal it.

Well, whoever it was, the house I died in (and probably left a nice bounty too, several 2k starter safe&wife kills before dying), has reminded me why I should never poke through a questionable door without using bricks. Dammit.

New ideas are always fun. My favorite are the ones that prey on the common knowledge of the community. i.e. one that looks like a common trap, but is actually deadly when you try to verify if its a the common trap.
I'm not sure if your trap is a wife deathtrap, but I had my time creating those. Unfortunately, your wife becomes an eventual casualty and so I stopped exploring it since I like to keep her alive.
I look forward to seeing your new iteration.
Edit grammar

must be a really nice variation.
The only time i've got big bounties, was a stealth wife trap in my fresh 2k house, that caught lots of peoples out of guard.
10k out of 6 bounties.
but wife traps never last...

xandalis was indeed right, now that my wife is dead I don't mind sharing. I didn't get any more big bounties, but it was quite a simple trap getting a 4600 and an 8100 bounty. It was a wife/dog pincer with a diagonal expose, but no screenshift as part of the expose though.
I thought of it because what gives off a wife/dog pincer to me is the extra steps the path to the door makes you take. But with a diagonal expose like you would have for a stealth dog commit, you don't expect a wife. And if the angle is wrong for a stealth dog commit people just open the door.

Ah, yeah. You managed to cram that into the upper left corner pretty effectively. Maybe seeing my death at the hands of that pit-bull traumatized your wife, leading to her eventual demise? I debated suiciding on the spot, but figured it would be more amusing for you to see someone "try" to get out of it with no tools. Sure wasn't gonna let the wife kill me though
edit: Oh, what was my name that time? And my bounty should've been the 4.6k, if I remembered all my bounty-increases correctly.

Well I died to lagging in selftest so I can't check your name now, xandalis. If you didn't die to the wife though I think you were the 8100. Did you go down from the door into the "room" with the dog? Because without being able to check, I believe that's what the 8100 did, the 4600 ran to the exit, stumbling into the shotgunblast of the wife.

Damn. Must've clubbed a few more wives than I thought. Yeah, that was me.

I can be remembering the other way around, I mean I can't check like I said.

Nah I'm still using it. And seeing it built out makes it a lot easier to spot than just having read about it

Why do you think I was rather vague in my description? Didn't wanna spoil the fun for other robbers.
