The demise of Mr. Lowery

Hello!
Mr. Lowery just messed up his wiring, frying himself in the proces. A shame, since the house of his dreams was easily within reach. I've stated that I'm a builder before, and as one I always like/want input from the wreckers. I therefore publish my house, forcing myself to come up with somethng fresh the next time. Also, the kill booth at the entrance is my invention. I've seen it replicated, but the original is mine. Quite fond of it, too.

This entrance would have gone on permanent ignore if I were the robber. It has all the elements I hate as a robber.

Here's the last snapshot - a few versions before wires were crossed in a bad way.

EDIT: ...and here's the plan for the finished house - http://castledraft.com/editor/zXJFby

Re: The demise of Mr. Lowery

Hey, I almost robbed you once, but I screwed up the LoF in the top right with the cat.  I see you added a lot since then.

I also died in your house when it was on it's first or second day... I had a nice house and I HAD to hit the toggle button at the front that releases that dog.

Oh! So that 13k bounty was you, HardKor? That came in handy, I tell you. I'll try to keep making traps that look innocent as this one does. Maaaany fell for it, and then it subsided. I guess it got known. tongue

Re: The demise of Mr. Lowery

That's a really, really complicated house!  I've spend about 30 minutes trying to figure it out and am still just about halfway through.  This is the first house I've seen that uses the rotary toggle switch throughout the house, I think.

Just one question- it looks like you have to get the dog below you at the entrance to press the button at the far right of his hallway *before* you get to the trapdoor/electric floor leap of faith about 10 tiles to the right.  I can't think of any way to do that, though.  What am I missing?
EDIT: Never mind, you have to get it pressed way before that, and then the dog in the trapdoor hallway lets you through that leap of faith.  Same question, though.
EDIT2: Oh, I see, the dog never presses anything- you fry the dog, then turn of the power and press the button yourself.

Also, is that a smiley face in the middle of the house? (to the left of the leap of faith I asked about)

Re: The demise of Mr. Lowery

I love the rotary toggle. It's my favorite object. You've answered your own questions, basically. The smileyface is quite unintentional. smile
If memory serves, this house began as a "how deadly can I make a house that fits into the entrance screen"-project. I'll see if I can find that first build in my mapshots folder.

My favorite part of this house is how you have to "hack" the LoF to the right of the smiley. I don't think many would have gotten that one.

*goes off to the map shot room*

EDIT: Didn't get a shot of the first version, but this one comes close. I had expanded up a bit here, though.

Ok I have no idea how to solve that house (the last version). Can you please post a solution?

Looks like we had a different solution for the bottom left room wink

Yep tongue I have a nice little system where I can get a map from castledraft to Fortress Theory in a few minutes, so I didn't have to build the whole thing manually.  I actually decided to leave it in FT, so there's a Brian John Lowery there now (I didn't know your first names wink).

Make this one too, and take a mapshot: http://castledraft.com/editor/w55gdC

EDIT: I was thinking of building it. But the cost versus security is insane.

Re: The demise of Mr. Lowery

Awesome house, Stefan.
I was gonna try to figure out the solution before you posted it, lo and behold there are solutions posted by you and iceman.
Ah well... I had fun watching it done by iceman.

iceman,
It's actually how I solve other people's houses too, I just build it myself in self test. it would be nice to have your setup where you can load it from castle draft and play with it smile

That is impossible to self-test.  the chiwauwau breaks the paradox circuit and turns on the grates with no way to turn them back off... unless I'm missing something

Re: The demise of Mr. Lowery

It's just a concept build, HardKor. I was toying with art implementation, and got carried away - AND I am a n00b when it comes to paradox circuits - but don't tell anyone. smile

Edit: spelling
