Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

If you ever feel like adding an API that spits out an up-to-date price list, let me know! ;-)

Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

Would have been possible already if we had made a dummy account for you so that castledraft could check out the house for editing to get the price list, but I figure it would load the server more that way.

So, I added a call to the public API:

http://thecastledoctrine.net/gameServer … price_list

Enjoy!

Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

Would it be easy to wire the wiki up to that as well?

I'm not sure. Who runs the wiki?

WE DO, OF COURSE! smile  Just get in there and start editing.  I added a bunch way back, just mainly some item descriptions and cleaned up some of the layout and formatting.

Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

I think the question was about how this data could be auto-sucked into the wiki from the game server.

Sadly, I think that with the new third-party wiki hosting (Curse net, or whatever it's called), we don't have access to the wiki engine source code.  Not that I'd really be wanting to mod MediaWiki to work with the game server anyway, even if I was still hosting the wiki on my own server (once it's modded, then it's hard to maintain, etc.)

Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

So there is no easy way with the way the wiki is to add dynamic content by accessing an external site? What about internally so that only a single "price list" page needs to be updated to update all of the separate pages?

If this isn't possible, what about the possibility of a program which updates the prices automatically?

Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

I think curse only allows certain extensions to be installed.

This one looks like it'd do the job, but I don't see it on their whitelist.

Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

seems people are having trouble finding the recordedGame files!

open up your castle doctrine folder, go into settings folder, open recordGame.ini and make sure it's contents are '1' and not '0.' save!

next time you open up the game, when you leave your house you should then find the 'recordedGames' folder inside castle doctrine folder, with films named; recordedGame00001.txt, 00002, 3, 4, etc.

crack open your newest file and your house code should be the first big line beginning with 998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#998#.. etc. very long string smile

Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

On Windows 8, the files are hidden.  See the forum FAQ for help with that.

Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

I've never had this problem with Windows 8, I'm guessing it is because I save the game in my "C:\Games\" folder instead of "C:\Program Files\"?

Yeah, that was the problem.  I don't think it's able to actually write anthing to C:\Program Files without administrative privileges, which it didn't have.  I moved it to Saved Games and it's working fine now.

Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm using Windows 7, not 8, so it's applicable to both of them (mostly for the FAQ page).

makes it very easy to stick the map into a database for testing/whatever on your own server smile

Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

@ukuko; Thank you.
Thank you very much!

I was searching all over castledraft.com to trying to find "credits" to see who I can thank for allowing me to steal away time at work to pre-design my home.

It was you all along.

Thank you!

Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

Update [23.02.2014]:

– Added initial robber view to grid overlay
– Added diff function (show money spent since you toggled the button... handy for planning an upgrade)
– Added fill function (for the pitbull ocean you always wanted)

There's a couple of bugs I'm aware of with the fill function (you can paint the doormat, and fill the house with family/vaults), but if you find anything else, please let me know.

Re: castledraft.com — another house editor

There is one bug I've experienced on multiple computers and browsers that can be quite annoying. It's to do with the eyedropper - sometimes when I use it it will delete the last item I placed every time I put a new one down, as if I was moving the vault or a family member. I just tried it out then and got it to work, so this update hasn't fixed it. Has anyone else had this problem?
