I thought everybody would know that.

im aware you arent the admin, nor the creator of the game, and therefore the second paragraph was not particularly labeled for you, but for Jason as a idea.
Im not a fool, so dont pin me up as one. I'm well aware of who the hell the created the game, as well as the difference between a guy whose name says registered yesterday and a admin, of which we only have one.
Secondly, even if the person is not "cheating", i personally dont see the correlation between how the server could go on a duplicating spree with wives and how that has anything to do with her placement in the house.
so on two separate occasions i somehow entered the house at the same exact time as another person, even though they would have been in different parts of the list, not to mention, the wives location should reset back to her starting location, i dont think she is like a dog where she just starts wherever she drops. So i cant see how she somehow was saved 1 space up from where she would have been if it was a completed robbery as she would have moved like 12 tiles anyways.
On a Separate note, have you ever thrown around the idea of increasing the value of items(building supplies) based on the fact that the wife is dead? or the family in general? Maybe the local hardware store owner found out you failed to protect your wife, or rather didnt care to and stuck her at the door to get her killed intentionally. So he sells you the building supplies at an inflated cost because he dislikes you, it kind of brings a greater reward to those who keep the wife and children alive, vs the people who would rather not. This in turn would give incentive and increase the flow of money out of the game.

hallways leading to them, with family members holding them back, filled with 20k dollars worth of pitbulls, yes quite unobstructed i must say.
i have a hard time believing that it was just simply a mix up in the server, considering when i went to rob the house that second time, he had multiplied all his wives.
Secondly, both wives picked up shotguns, how does a wife pick up more then one shotgun? unless her going over the shotgun just simply gives her one, thus anytime she goes over it, it gives her one and then they could all technically pick up ghost shotguns.
A question though, could the ghost wives kill you if it was a server mess up?
yes ive figured it out myself, after making the post i went on experimenting trying to recreate it, to which i did successfully, which i might add, i dislike the idea, simply because it just doesnt make sense, but its meta gaming and it works, and i will use it as everyone else does, unfortunately.
Jason explained it was a way to give you the "oh shit"(not those specific words) feeling when you arrive to find someone snuffed you out of the robbery long before you ever arrived. Also the money you had seen was on the wife and not in the vault, either way, valuable lesson learned on your part. The house or rather the vault always has the possibility to have nothing in it whatsoever. Thats the risk you take, as a good for nothing filthy robber.
So i entered a house, above my character was the wife, behind a pane of glass, as i continued on further she disappeared into the house somewhere. As i made my way past the glass i noticed a door, to the left and a long hallway, one of which i assumed the wife would be coming down eventually. So i did the ol' two step dance, stepping back and forth for around 2 minutes to give the wife time to get to me, however she never did. I assumed she must have had a helluva maze to run through to the exit. So i entered the door, BAM! instantly plastered by the wife, who was conveniently waiting behind the door with a shotgun with the family. I assume the house was intentionally broken as to allow the wife to always shoot you, essentially a "one time" house, no longer able to be played after its initial vault had been secured, or maybe not, maybe she is used intentionally to kill players similar to the doggie door we had in alpha(we didnt have bricks opening doors).
I assume he must have killed a dog or a child in a specific way to have the hallway blocked, but either way, i felt quite cheated out of my death, kind of sad really.
Either way, watch out for it, or allow the wife to walk over bodies to exit, which i thought we had fixed.
So here i am robbing houses, trying to get anything i can from people, and i stumble across this Mormon. This man has multiple wives and like a dozen children lol, what the hell is going on?
This is me going in a second time, to investigate further
All of the Children were named Brittany & George, while all the wives were named Becky, only one of them carried money, or so it looked.
you cant
it was originally 1 hour, however with the influx of people and the contest he changed it to 24hours.
There was never a chill for leaving a house after you entered only for dying in the house to stop griefers.
I have another wife problem to report, lol. When something dies in the place of the shotguns original pickup location, the wife can not pick up the shotgun, and will avoid it completely. What had happened was as followed. A robber entered the house, sawed through a wall, the wife and children began to flee, however he clubbed one of the children and they died in the spot where the "trigger lock" was located. Because of that, when the robber entered the house again, the wife avoided the shotgun completely, and the robber was able to club and kill the wife. Posting this for my brother, incase you decide to view the tapes, i believe he is currently Kenneth Barker.
I think most people who want to kill the wife are looking for the money, quite simply put, i will club the mans wife as a way to show him, "he should have protected her". Yes that sounds horrible, but maybe on his next playthrough he will keep her alive better. As for me, i always protect the family and something as simple as a dog and a shotgun makes your wife quite safe. They would need to purchase 2 guns to get to her, if using a single dog and her shotgun. Thats a whopping $2400 and not even worth going after her for if she only has like 500 bucks on her. If you have more then that, then im not sure why you wouldnt have more defending her, as the price will continue up for every dog you place, and guns arent cheap ya know.
Even if they used a drug meat to counter your dog, placing the dog directly in the path to your family alleviates them even reaching them, so a dog is a great wife survival tool.
Okay picture in your mind a cross, like a red heart cross, a plus sign if that helps. Now break that up into tiles, we have a center tile, with a single tile in each direction. Put the door in the west tile, put a inverted powerswitch in the center tile, on the east tile put a power station(the blue square that gives power), in the north tile, put a pressure switch(the one that only presses down, and sticks down, not a toggle one, it should have like an orange color on its sides). Lastly, put a power station above the pressure switch, and you have created a door that only opens when the button is pressed.
Now just add wiring to the system to stretch it out, and you are set. That is a very simple design on closed power doors.
To have a door close behind the person, its as simple as(using the same plus sign tileset) a door in the west tile, a pressure switch in the center, and a power station on the east tile. If you cant afford the door, use a electric floor trap, it all works the same.
Of course, remember, always hide your wiring, it makes it tougher on the robber to break things, as well as know what is coming ahead of time. Also note, what i explained above is soley for the purpose of a pressure switch, the toggleable ones can achieve the same thing without the need for the inverter, however, these switches can be clicked on and off, so in theory someone can check and see what they are turning on and off, or simply just escape if its a door.
how could they be impossible for a self test if they are on the list? Quite clearly they themselves had to complete the test.
My only guess is she didnt have a way of escaping the house before, and so she wouldnt move because of it, she had no path to move that was free to exit.
EDIT:
Oh i think i figured it out, as the screen moved up, it revealed her standing there, if the robber can move on top of the shotgun before she can get to it, then she cant use it. So you must always remember to give atleast a one space gap between when someone sees her and the shotgun.
Must be why all the players with the most money switched to these magic dog houses.(exception of Mahan and Burgess, both of which have combo locks). Thats one way to make a point.
It means the list had not updated, and you clicked on a persons house who had died prior to you clicking on it. Therefore, you cant rob the dead mans house. The text is nothing more then a filler to create lore as to what had just occurred.
Short version:
you open robbery list.
Man dies in someones house.
you click on dead mans house to rob it.
list tells you, man is dead, cant rob.
List updates, dead mans house is removed from list.
why we are talking about Mr. Morel's house, why do his dogs not move past the pit, even though they are completely free to move? They refuse to move past the sight of a crippled cat in a pit. I dont understand the logic behind that, however, if you move close to the dog, within one square to kill it, it will attack you and of course kill you.
sounds good to me, any way to crush cheaters is fine in my book.
well im glad you came in to atleast justify your means for why you believe it is fine, and i accept that. You dont normally get the level of socialization from a developer that you provide.
Oh, i didnt see that, well thanks. I was under the impression the dropped tools would had been added to the vault.
I know these arent related as much to the topic, but they are somewhat related.
Could the possibility exist to shoot animals with the gun, through windows?
I only make the suggestion as i have noticed an increase in the magic dance houses, which i do not want to commit to try and break, because i dont have the money, lol. A lot of houses have now come along with a window, and a dog of which you can clearly see. The dog then follows you beyond your visibility pushing a random series of buttons of which you dont know what they do, then at the end is either a series of doors, leading to the dog insta-attacking you, or a row of grates to kill you as the dog follows pushing buttons.
The other suggestion would be, allowing the dog to break chase after he has lost sight of you for several moves, like say 2 or 3 moves.
Im not sure if this was intentional or not, but i've had several robbers just poke around in the house for a bit, and i never received any of the tools they brought in. Was this intentional? is there a number of steps one can take without losing tools now? I didnt see anything in the changelogs, so i assume its a bug.
I only ask if this is a bug or something then because i've missed out on, i would roughly say 2k in tools.
i dont know much about what you could do, or code, but maybe a solution of only sending so much of the map to the client at a time. like the first sight picture, and you only update the rest of the sight picture when you move in sight to get more. So in turn, a player wouldnt have access to the whole map, but only parts of the map as he began to explore about.
Or maybe only what is in sight is sent to the client, and whenever things come into sight the server sends them to the client as well. The map stays with the server, until its needed.
maybe you could have some money in a wallet, unfortunately it would be protected, but it could be limited to a certain amount of money. Im not sure how else you could do it. On another note, if you rob someones house, while your house is being robbed, does it place the money you just robbed into your house being robbed? where does he keep it? could you use this as a way to buy tools while your out of the house?
