Not a fan personally. I believe if you have the correct tool you should be able to escape, if you over commit and don't have the tool necessary then you should die. I should be able to rely on a wire cutter doing what it is supposed to do with out it insta-killing me. Takes some of the fun out of robbing when I can't ever step on an electric grill unless it is cut first. I believe this detracts from the tactical aspect of the game and just makes it random. There is enough random guessing on pathing without having to guess if your tool is actually going to work. What's next, a ladder that breaks when you step on it?

When I start a new house, people kill my wife for $50.

Prison Architect has been on my watch-list for awhile now. I was a huge fan of Darwinia. Also, mentioned earlier was Defcon. All made by Introversion Software.
I haven't checked up on PA lately, but last time i looked into it, they were slowly working out game breaking bugs.

I thought that garbage was patched. Guess not... Boy do I feel cheated.

No clock, how do the electric floors come on when using a wire cutter?

Drugged dogs wake up in the spot they were drugged.

I got my money's worth from Gnomoria and Project Zomboid for sure.

#8 Re: Main Forum » Family » 2014-02-20 14:14:31

Every time i start a house i put my family by the front door and babysit it until they are dead. In my opinion a family is a liability in the current game state. Space better used to protect your vault, no chance of loosing half your cash and no way to save damage to the house when they are gone. Yes, I'm a terrible husband and father.

Congratulations to Charles Nicholas Curry. He had a pretty easy time of it. I'm glad a good player got it and not a hacker. Now back to the drawing board!

#10 Re: Main Forum » Come and Get Me » 2014-02-18 22:47:21

Just had a hacker with no tools almost make it to the vault, but he realized he missed something, went back, then took a wrong step and died. And no, it wasn't just someone getting lucky. It was very obvious. I imagine I'll be waking up to an empty vault. See ya tomorrow.

Alright guys, I finally made my goal of the top house. Now come and get it.

Wow, that is an amazing house

#14 Re: Main Forum » Finally got robbed. Here is my house, please give me some tips. » 2014-02-17 12:35:34

I think you'll find that combo locks are great for $2k suicides, but once someone targets you with a pack full of saws, your combo lock is worthless, which is why i've stopped using them.

#16 Re: Main Forum » Wife has all the cash? » 2014-02-13 09:37:20

Unlikely, but still possible that the house owner repaired the damage and sold just enough tools to cover the cost exactly.

#17 Re: Main Forum » Saws for the Poor » 2014-02-12 16:28:48

Feel free to bring me all your saws

#18 Re: Main Forum » Stop Getting Brute-Forced! The Modular Theory of House Design » 2014-02-12 16:25:15

As the game stands now, no house design can prevent brute forcing. Every square in the house has a tool that provides a solution. In the example you gave, only 5 saws, 5 explosives and 1 ladder is needed to get to the safe. You can't force a robber with enough tools to do anything. Combo locks are absolutely useless against a well tooled robber. I robbed someone with 2 combo locks in their house earlier today, just saw to power supply and kill it, no more combo lock. Leap of faith commit gates are easily defeated with a ladder.

#19 Re: Main Forum » James Paul Jarrett » 2014-02-11 09:54:36

I got totally smoked last night for 90k. I knew I would get robbed eventually but the toolkit used was pretty disheartening to me. Too easy... Found some serious flaws in my house design that I hadn't thought through or seen exposed as everyone just died in the first 1/3rd of the house. Well done Erich Michael Spann. I have a new house design that I'll be trying out, may take a couple of days off first. See ya later.

Mentally deranged cat hoarder. You should take him out man.

#21 Re: Main Forum » James Paul Jarrett » 2014-02-10 18:20:20

Easy way to find out, blow it up and everything around it. Hahah

#22 Re: Main Forum » family and free path » 2014-02-10 18:10:38

No, not correct. Damage is permanent until repairs when either a) a family member dies or b) your vault is robbed

#24 Re: Main Forum » family and free path » 2014-02-10 16:55:18

Agreed, but until something changes that is the most efficient thing to do. From my understanding, a wife used to earn a salary while you were logged off, but people just turtled so it was changed. Until a wife serves a better purpose, she's cannon fodder. I'm a terrible husband and father.

and how the hell do you go on with 1k$ after your family is dead?

I chain rob until I have a bankroll to get started, spend most of the cash to leave my wife poor. The tools I robbed remain in the vault to keep my value high enough to attract robbers. Wife doesn't get any of that until you sell it.
