Hardkor. your only playing half the game. when you hit about 20k, your house is semi complete, you have lots of cash, probably lots of tools from all the corpses as well. NOW the 2nd half of the game starts. you get to become the robber. start scouting houses, saving them in castle draft, and slowly chip away. the guys on the top page didnt get there by just sitting and doing nothing. when they hit about 20k they robbed their way to the top. robbing is the most exhilarating part of the game. every step you take is ~weeks of work on the line. i think your just playing waaaaay to safe and wondering why people are taking honest attempts at you 20k house. rob your way to 40-50k. the heavy hitters will come. and youll be a heavy hitter too. the game is much more fun at this point. dont give up now!

You win.  I decided that since my friend that I bought the game for had stopped playing I would use one 2k account to scout and the other 2k account to try to rob.  (Frowned upon... I know) I mapped out a couple of 10-20K houses this way and eventually made a score of ~12K which was more then enough to build all that I lost (minus all the extra walls, silly commit traps, etc.)

I've been building the same house almost every day hoping that someone will crack it...  I usually die in someone elses house stupidly (most likely a dog that beats me to the door).  After what, 2 months of playing I've never had anyone crack my house and in reality only one person seriously tried.  After I get 20K traffic stops and it stagnates.  I think I hit a new record when I survived for a whole week... Just died.  What is the point of this game?  I'm not playing with other people, just watching people die to the same cheep traps.

although expensive, I've never seen anyone get past a powered door except by randomly guessing the right path/combo/trigger.

I've become a fan of using traps that require wire cutters because 2Ks rarely have them

#34 Re: Main Forum » Open Question: are Wife-Based Traps Worth It in High Value Houses? » 2014-03-29 20:15:06

If I bring a brick and a gun into your house, could I kill your wife? If yes, would I make a profit doing so?
These are the things I used to think about when I used my wife in my house.  I stopped hiding her behind doors because someone shot her that way.  This game makes you paranoid based on your mistakes, just make sure she dies a worthy death... because one day she will die.

#35 Re: Main Forum » Game crashed during self-test » 2014-03-29 19:19:50

If you time-out during self-test it is the same as dying during a self-test.  Brutal consequence that stops people from purposefully disconnecting.

Yes indeed.  My vault currently has more money in it then I've managed (a whopping 14k) before dying to something as silly as the things in this thread.  part of me wants my house to be robbed so I can see where it is weak, but on the other hand that means my house was robbed and I'm broke.  This game...

#37 Re: Main Forum » Funniest Home Surveillance Tapes » 2014-03-29 19:02:06

That is awesome.  I robbed that house for an extravagant $100.  only took me 1000 steps or so to figure out your clever traps

#38 Re: Main Forum » Heart Stopping Moments » 2014-03-27 23:09:10

Just had one of those today.  checked my house after work, racked up 10 kills so I upgraded my house adding a dog & pit trap... as I was testing the house I realized I forgot the dog to get me over the pit... Oh well, I die every day it seems, at least I can build my house up quickly.

#39 Re: Main Forum » [Suggestion] Unique animals » 2014-03-25 22:26:20

Instead of being treated like a pitbull they could be treated like a child.  need a clear path to the exit, etc.
Although they will just end up in a room full of pitbulls so maybe still wouldn't work

#40 Re: Main Forum » Stupid self-test fails... » 2014-03-22 21:09:51

No one has "cracked" one of my houses.  I always end up dying before anyone gets the chance.  Half the time it's to self-tests while the other half is for poor scouting techniques.  I have no idea how to rob people and turn a profit.  too many commit gates, bit locks, and doggy pit traps.

It is so difficult to edit this trap to fit the budget.  I just noticed the price discrepancies as well.  Hopefully this one works now that I put the window back.

I just robbed 2 paintings from someone using a slightly upgraded version of this design. How they managed to get them is beyond me, but they were the easiest I've ever stolen. Was it you?

I doubt it.  The only painting I've ever had is, well since I cannot find a list of paintings I'm going to attempt to describe it in two words:  USA Gorilla  (Walked into the new owner's house: Stars & Stripes)

#42 Re: Main Forum » Wife VS No wife. » 2014-03-18 18:53:44

I "try" to keep my wife safe, but try to limit the benefits of someone killing her.  The problem with keeping her though is someone scouts my house, comes back to kill my wife, and while they are there they tear up some walls and throw food everywhere.  I've even had someone do this three times in a row killing one family member each time so that when they destroy my traps, they stay broken.  Depending on how many traps are between him and my vault, I come back to find either find nothing or a broken house with little to no money.

There's a house (only 280 at the moment) that is basically a reinforced version of your house. I'm just waiting untill there's enough money in there for it to be worth it. There's also a 1300ish house that I swear is HardKor's house (perhaps it is HardKor?)
Edit: As for the wifeblocking, that has been going on forever and also in new houses, but the one I am talking about also uses the exact layout of your design.

That is most definitely me.  I've been playing with that lately as my $2000 starter house.  Once I get money though I always add my traps behind it which only 1 person has cracked so far.  (Usually because I get myself killed before it's worth the risk)

#44 Re: Main Forum » No way to exit house with broken vault » 2014-03-18 00:39:57

The 1-step death houses also have a way of killing me when I'm not giving the game my full attention.  I know it's my fault, but since any completed house lets you step through the door, I'm never worried about that.  Back to the base $2000 with no idea how to rob someone since everyone has bit locks and magic dog dances. (Both of which unavoidable with 2k).

I've died numerous times after reaching the vault successfully, because a simple electric electric floor commit gate keeps me from leaving the house.  This frustrates me to no end because I had no way to know the vault was broken until I reached it, and there is never a way to reach the door after hitting up a vault.  There should be something to let me know the vault is broken.
Side note: A house messed up after someone kills a family member can become unsolvable.

#48 Re: Main Forum » What is your earliest house? » 2014-03-11 02:40:32

All I remember from my early houses is all my 'commit' gates were toggle switches instead of sticky, so robbers could just turn off the traps after setting them off.
