Hi Pumarona,
Thanks for stopping by the Jensen Gallery. While you have left no donation, we still appreciate your presence. We assume you are the gentleman, Thomas David Gonzalez, owner of the "Knowledge of Good and Evil" by Richard Lemarchand, who came back for a second visit intending to see plenty of exhibitions.

If you examine the path carefully you'll notice that only certain exhibitions were purposely closed that day. Please come back again, and you'll notice that certain sections of the gallery will open and close depending on the visits of such deep thinkers as yourself. We look forward to welcoming you back smile

Not sure if I'll have as much time today as I did yesterday but I'll get to it soon.

Ok. Build up scene is done. Unfortunately Tool Collection might take awhile since there are chills on the main server. MMaster can you drop the chills for today and tomorrow?

If anyone else is on the free server, I need Ronald Howard Wilson to collect these tools below. Please try attempting a robbery and dying in a realistic fashion (bonus points for funny deaths):

These are the tools needed for the revenge runs.
Tools needed on First Attempt
10 Bricks, 2 doorstops, 10 wirecutters, 30 water
15 saws, 10 drugged meat, 2 explosives, 1 ladder

Tools needed on Second Attempt
10 Bricks, 2 Doorstops, 10 Wirecutters, 50 water
10 saws, 10 drugged meat, 10 explosives, 2 ladders

Tools needed to kill wife on Third Visit
10 Guns, 15 clubs

Just finished doing "testing recorded games" and finalized the Main Char Home to the point where it's been tested piece meal (no full run through
http://castledraft.com/editor/y1XzOV

Will do the kill scene soon along with the buildup. (hope I don't die during the recording)

Please don't rob Tyler John Cheney either. (he's the clubber home).

#130 Re: Main Forum » Clubbed to Death, a story of revenge » 2014-04-28 18:41:51

And I finished and built the clubbers home. Less robust than the main char's home.

Non tested home, but here's the first draft of the Main Char's home.
http://castledraft.com/editor/PA2kUs

It's got a scout killer in the north west.
Fire floors beneath it.
Dog doors and paradox circuit with bluff cat.
Clock next
Then a magic dance.
Then a combo lock at the bottom (this might be too complicated with the cats).
And a final leap of faith with 3 directions.

I'm wondering if it's too big to build in the amount of time available.
We'll see.
Let me know what you think.

#132 Re: Main Forum » Clubbed to Death, a story of revenge » 2014-04-28 15:59:08

Got the safe home up. Need a castle draft for a Clubber home and Main Char home now. Gonna try to work in each general type of trap. Fire floors, combo locks, clock, magic dance, leap of faith. etc. I don't think it has to fill the whole place, it just has to be enough to explore.

Edit: For those of you on the free server, please to not rob Ronald Howard Wilson.

I poked my nose in your house because you're top - I'd like to stay and poke around, but it will just cost far too much. I could spend 75% of my value on tools for a house like yours, and that would just be to make sure I could get out alive, with no prospect of getting to the vault.

I'm happy to try and help spread the word etc, but I have very little knowledge of how to try and do so. sad

Just checked your house, you're at 24 visits, 10 deaths. And you just visited me.

I've noticed the number of visitors has been declining. Although I get a steady stream at certain of times of day. Most of the time they are people hitting up my house every 24 hour cycle. Some are getting deeper, but haven't gotten deep enough for me to prompt a change.

I haven't gone out to rob in a while myself, since it's very expensive to stay alive while doing it. I definitely will, when a nice juicy target comes around, but I don't think that will be for awhile since the economy is quite low right now. My incentive to rob is quite low right now. I'm sure it is for everyone who has a house. For those who don't, I'm not sure there are enough patient players who will revisit and work out difficult houses.

I'd like for the chills to adjust to the size of the player base, so anybody chilled out can revisit more than once per day when there aren't that many people playing. In the meantime, I'm working on the advertisement ideas, using the free server. You should come help, so we can get the word out and hopefully attract players willing to stay and learn and prosper.

Sure. Here it is:
http://tcd.bitbix.com/ticketServer/register.php

I have modified it so everything in house is free to make it easier for you to do any setup you need. You get $5k at the beginning and can build whole house for free. Tools are still priced the same as on main server. This can still make some interesting gameplay as people can build anything they want. Having $5k in starting tools is also quite good to try to break expensive houses that will come up after building them is free.

MMaster, I tried signing up for two accounts using the same email. The second downloadcode doesn't work. Do I need to have a different email for it to work?

The streaming one is tricky.  This is one reason I like the idea of different neighborhoods.  At the highest level, we could have much stricter rules including, you will get banned if you stream while playing in that particular neighborhood.

You haven't responded to the broken house scenario where it seemed ok, but then wasn't.

It sounds like you want to have different rule sets pertaining to each neighborhood.
For each one, I urge you to make it clear what the rules are for each server.

What would the rules be for the server you would want to play in the most? Please be as specific as possible, and I'll try to help by letting you know of any cases that I can think of. Right now, you don't have anything specific or a living list that defines what a "Server that does not tolerate cheating" actually means. That's the biggest hole right now.

I think it's the major abuse of map sharing that would be really not allowed.  If someone shared some tips on a broken house and the broken house owner doesn't complain or the person streaming doesn't complain, then it's a non issue.

"Major abuse" is so general that I'm not sure what you mean by it. The line for what your server considers an offense to result in banning should be very specific and clear.

In your provided example, if the owner of a house that got broken returns after a 3 week vacation and reports everyone who walked straight to the vault with no prior visits, (got the map from a friend to get to the vault), then they would get banned, even though it seemed like an abandoned house for people who were in there?

And my thoughts on streaming wasn't for the streamer to complain about his house getting broken into. It's about the houses he reveals when he robs other people. If those people complain that their houses are being revealed on his stream, would the streamer get banned?

Well I would prevent map stealing by making the game logic completely server side, making it so the client doesn't have the whole map...  Get enough complaints tying the same accounts together, and an admin investigates then bans the account if necessary.

I was only asking about sharing, but thanks for sharing your ideas against hacking maps through the client.

If I understand your post correctly, that means your stance would be to prevent map sharing. i.e. People who decide to rob collaboratively will eventually get reported and banned. Is this correct? Also, would that mean anyone who shares a map on the forums or anyone who streams (maps would be revealed) would also get banned?

Edit: made the quote smaller

Hi Cullman,

Welcome back smile

You're posts have been in a bunch of different threads, but they mostly have to do with this topic, so I'm gonna reply here. For the vision of your server, where do you stand on map information? i.e. Would you allow or try to prevent sharing of maps, and if so, any ideas on implementation?

#143 Re: Main Forum » Happy Birthday Earl John Mitchell » 2014-04-27 10:53:22

Happy Birthday Mitchell.

I've had another char last longer but didn't know the name.
Ponder was alive all of March. And Jensen is looking like he's gonna survive into May (started beginning of April).

Although, I've been less active with Jensen in the thievery lifestyle. Lack of exorbitant targets mostly.

I'd say my earlier characters were a bit more active because of the flowing cash.

Cylence
Replies: 0

Finding out your name is fairly easy if you have more than one account or a friend to check for you. If you don't though, you'll need some help. I just wanted a thread where people could post their entrance and possibly have someone identify them.

I would prefer that this thread not get spammed with too much chatter.

------------------------------

Request Format

1) Date
2) Entrance
3) House Value
4) Kill Count
5) Paintings

Date - just note down the current Date, and possibly time

Screenshot - enter self test by clicking on your vault then putting it back. click done and you should be in self test. While you are standing on the welcome mat press = on your keyboard, then leave and undo the changes (so you don't have to do a vault test). This will create a screenshot in your Screenshot folder.
For steam users, this folder will be a place like - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\CastleDoctrine
The file with be a .tga file. You will need to open this in an image editor and save it as a jpeg. You can use Photoshop, or GIMP or any major image editor.
Upload this img using http://imgur.com/
Then copy the BBCode

[IMG]http://i.imgur.com/ieFBBzU.jpg[/IMG]

and put it in your post.

House Value - this is the resale value of your tools + your balance. In your backpack, change to Sell Mode and hover your mouse over the Sell All button. This will give you the total value of your tools. If you don't want to add like me, just click Sell All, note your increased balance, then click Undo.

Kill Count - Check this by looking at your security tapes. On the last tape, the red number tells you how many kills before that visit. If someone died on the last visit, just add 1 to the red number to get your Kill Count.

Paintings - The title and author of the first painting. This makes it very easy to confirm your house.

------------------------------

Response

If you see this person's house, you can respond with what their name may possibly be. Make sure we know what post you are responding to.

If you are receiving a response to your request, please double check if you can see that name in your house list. If you can, then it isn't you (since you can't see your own name). Let them know if they are incorrect.

------------------------------

Example

1) Date - 2014.04.26 12:36 PST
2) Entrance
ieFBBzU.jpg
3) House Value - $58690
4) Kill Count - 60
5) Paintings - Dermatillomanian Seduction

Edit: Changed Subject from What's My Name? to How To Find Your Name.

#147 Re: Main Forum » Harold Andrew Wills » 2014-04-26 11:41:44

You can try posting your entrance and current amount of money (tools plus cash), and see if anyone here can tell you your name.

Cylence, you are right, but that's what you need Autotune for - with that you can set every syllable to the right pitch. That would take much more time than Stefan doing the singing and me editing it to the playback.

Ah, ok. Less time is better. Work them vocals Stefan smile.

Actually it's very good and easy to work with. This took about 5 seconds: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/215 … _take1.mp3

If the original is too fast and too high, try this slowed down and deeper version: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/215 … G_slow.mp3

It might be much easier to sing to it, and I can make it faster again with two clicks.

Man, great work guys, the slowed down version sounds good too. (Slow Jam Remix, haha).
Also, (gyuri correct me if I'm wrong), Stefan, you can just talk it out. This is the original news clip that the people sampled from, where he's just talking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzNhaLUT520

#150 Re: Main Forum » Has this game died? » 2014-04-25 12:39:30

Hi Blackout.

Although we definitely would like a larger player base, there's still plenty of game even with a small community.

1) you have the correct version if you are on steam (it's the latest).
2) you need to know about http://castledraft.com to plan designs and record houses when robbing.
3) there's a very steep learning curve. This is a hard game, and if you are willing to put in the time, it's willing to reward you. check out http://thecastledoctrine.gamepedia.com/ … trine_Wiki for what each item does. The stickies in the forum are also a good source of information.

I suggest learning the game through robbing. I wrote a guide on how to break tough houses over time. It takes patience and persistence to be a good robber. No house is impenetrable. For proof, in my current life I robbed a house worth $50k+ with 2 visits. I did get lucky on the second visit, however after all I mapped out, it would have only taken 2 more visits for a guaranteed theft (if the owner didn't make updates).
Burglary: Home Invasion 101
This alone will be worth the $17 when you finally break into a vault.

I also wrote a guide on designing houses.
Building: House Design 101

There is also the free community server, where the house items are $0 and you can play around in self test to learn everything.

Iceman has also created a mod with it's own server

Hopefully, I've given you enough to start enjoying. Hope you find out whether this game is for you or not. But there's plenty of game left even with a small player base. So definitely not dead.
