This is where we celebrate a selftest

So there are all the 'Oh crap I died in selftest' threads, but I think we should also celebrate the selftests that we survive! So this is where we do that.
I'll start it off:
WOOT I just survived selftest guys! YEAH!

I've survived every self-test this month!

Hooray to only dying in the neighbors' houses!

I've survived every self-test when I'm suicide robbing!  It's boosted my scouting efficiency by 53.63%!!

I keep dying of a natural cause - Stupidity
The biggest thing that Castle Doctrine has taught me is that the price of your house is proportional to the stupidity of the mistake that kills you.

I actually finished three selftests today, but I am going to limit myself to when I change something and not just structure reinforcements.

Re: This is where we celebrate a selftest

believe it or not but i only died twice to self test, both during the first week of play.
After that i've always died during robberies (i guess i'm way better at building than i am at robbing peoples).

Btw, i've just made a HUGE change to my house, almost 1/2 has been completely modified in a single run, 35k have been spent, and i've just survived the test big_smile

for those who remember Earl John Mitchell's previous entrance (the clock suicide booth) that's how much it changed

qEMh2ZM.png

sorry but for privacy reasons i can only show the entrance big_smile

Oh, so it was you who solved my entire house tool-less some days ago, you might not be that bad at robbing then. At least you are good at dc scouting with alt accounts (which made the game very boring for me actually, as I couldn't see the tries, the most fun part of the game sad)

i Guess you're William Andrew Jackson.

As i wrote in another post your robbery has been a tag team with my brother.
It all started because of the paintings, i had the "Sarsaparilla Sunset", you had the Night. We decided to rob the second one for him, to get the full set.

We started scouting your house BEFORE the HUGE entrance upgrade. First time i took out the dance with cutters and water. Than i bashed through the wall to take a look at the dance, than we found that the entire dance could be skipped by just cutting a wall before the dog door.

You've probably saw the videos, because 1-2 days later your entrance was completely changed. But you didn't changed the magic dance (exception made for the last 3 steps), so my brother was able to keep scouting your house with 2k suicide runs.

He mapped your whole house, but on the very last day, i've got robbed by Jere for 100k. Since my house was finished, he decided to let me take a naked shot at your house in order to save mine.

I don't have a dual account but i play the game with my brother so the result is the same until we both have established houses.

As for the DC scout, i also think it should be changed asap, i've already complained about it several times through the forums (it's been used a lot in my house too). I don't think it's so complicate to fix it server side, and it has a HUGE impact on the gameplay.

Re: This is where we celebrate a selftest

Yeah, I'm not mad about losing the house, and I already knew somebody was 2k scouting me. I intentionally didn't change the magic dance, so robbers could get in and check the rest of the house! I wanted my house solved, but I wanted to see the process, that's what makes me mad, the dc scouting. In my tapes nobody was able to pass the magic dance since the upgrade (just a couple of tries that ended in death in the last part, that I assume it was your brother)
For now my house is still there, broken, until I summon some time to dump into the game again.

This was just a build run. I always die before somebody makes a real attempt at my house, so I tried to rob the least possible and just build and wait for the house to be beaten, it was actually very easy to solve, I just wanted to see the process sad

Speaking of self tests... I've started dabbling with Magic Dances.

Do you every get used to those things?   I feel like I'm going to crap my pants every self test.  Haven't died to it yet though!

Re: This is where we celebrate a selftest

Me too. The two weeks I had this (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4478005/thepen.png) house up I credit to extremely careful self testing. I used the step confirmation thingy (what's its face?) to minimize risk. Still almost shat myself on several occations, though.

Re: This is where we celebrate a selftest

i really like that house stefan. I have decided that when my current house falls, if i still want to play this game, i'm going to make a super convoluted and confusing house with lots of wrong paths like yours. it seems fun and hard to crack.

Re: This is where we celebrate a selftest

My new grand design is complete - and I survided the selftest. I've dubbed it "Galactus Wants a Donut", after how the mapshot looks. The donut is at the entrance. Galactus is reaching out from the shadows.

Re: This is where we celebrate a selftest

I have a house in The Fortress Theory which is annoying to self-test, because I never know if I did everything right until the very end, and of course it's too late then. I've built it for the fourth time in a row a couple of days ago. I've just done a major upgrade and a successful self-test, and my heart is still pounding like a steam engine.

i've got something similar in my house, it's pretty frustrating not to know if you've doomed yourself or not till the very last end.
