I've been scouting your house for probably 2 weeks now, and have gotten fairly far in. The last 2 days I died stupid, stupid deaths, but today I was able to figure out a lot. If the one who got pretty far used 2 saws and a wire cutter (along with a meat and a couple of waters), that would be me.
And of course, the cost for not dying stupidly in Jensen's house was dying stupidly in Geyer's house...
Great job! I was really tempted to make a video with a variety of deaths to the tune of "Duel of Fates", but I really think that time is better spent studying for my finals Instead, everybody simply gets the map:

All floor tiles are actually darkness tiles- all they do is allow movement but block vision (a variant of the cardboard box). Obviously, you're supposed to get the pit bull to open the powered door... but the only way to see it is to step on the other pit bull. Apparently, stepping on a dog that hasn't seen you yet won't kill you until you take your next step. Normally, since you can't use tools underneath you, you can't get away without dying. However, if you brought the chihuahua along, you can step on the pit bull then back onto the chihuahua, and you'll be safe. Then, you simply walk to the vault!
I watched your tape, eppfel, and there was a really cool visual effect with the lighting when you had a chihuahua following you. I'm not sure if you were able to see it, but it was almost like a weak flashlight trailing just half a second behind you.
Anyways, Ichabod bades everyone farewell- until v4
I think it's just something that will show up in the replays (mostly for debugging). As for me, I've always felt strangely compelled to write "%" in them
I'm really sorry, but I burst out laughing when I read this. You looked like you had a really good chance at collecting all paintings, and out of nowhere *BAM*!!!
Game over.
Very, very clever, eppfel! It does look like there's a bug with the confirmation, though- the "Press enter to confirm" doesn't go away until you mouse-over something and reset the tooltip. Just something for whoever uses that method to be careful of.
For the kills since I've updated the map last, I'll show how accurate both your maps were. Everything that you marked as a wall and was correct, I've shown as a wall. Everything you marked as a wall but was not, I've marked as a sawed wooden wall.
And now, a big note and a big hint. For those of you trying to crawl over to the vault- there's a powered door in the way. My hint is that the dog in the top left is one of the keys to reaching the vault.
Here's the map:

Yeah, I was planning on sorting out all of the issues and sharing it with you for the community server. I've just been waiting for school to finish- this week is finals week, so I don't really have time to do anything. After this week, though, I should be able to get it working fairly quickly.
Shameless plug here, but you could check out the Fortress Theory mod. Right now it has 5 new tools and 7 new house objects, a brand new set of paintings, and I'm hoping to have a way to save and load maps quickly in the next version. If you have any features you want to see, feel free to suggest them in that thread, and I'll think about adding them!
Oh, I can definitely see how that's deadly. Most people will follow the arrows from the top, instead of going down all the way until the screen shifts. That means that they see the dogs too early, and then the dogs are between them and the exit/vault.
And just out of curiosity... What happens to the golden chest if it's owner dies?
It is stored at the top of Mount Olympus until next King arises (whoever has the painting displayed has the vault).
Here is the Hernandez house. Who finds the solution?
Wow, that's actually harder than I thought! I knew you had to cross the trapdoors, see the CAD and combo the cats, but I assumed you had to do a magic dance to get back across the trapdoors. I still haven't figured out quite how you can cross the commit gates back, though. I also didn't expect there to be more dogs past the 2 that see you at first.
I'm guessing you have to get the chihuahua stuck where he starts out each time, and then somehow he'll let you back across the trapdoors. I can't see how it works, though
I'll poke in again- I want to see how much you had changed. I had just figured out (I think) how to explore more of your house, and I have a feeling the enitre area I deemed a red herring might not be one anymore
Congrats, 42Dustman! You have figured out through trial and error what I had trouble figuring out looking at the map!
Did you modify it Iceman? If so, can I have a look?
Yep- it's one of the easter eggs that daVinci mentioned. 42dustman gave me the idea of having easter eggs a while back, and I figured I'd throw some in! If you want to see the treasure chest, it's in 42's house now (Martin, I believe his name is). (Or you could look into the vaults folder)
And Iceman... I saw your vault. ;D
Well, I *am* the King! You'll be looking into it soon, I expect- be sure to share the experience with the rest of us when you do
To celebrate, we will be moving forward with some new renovations that already have been planned.
Please stay tuned and expect changes soon.
I'd like to submit a complaint about the potential renovations. Your last "renovations" resulted in a much less appealing entryway. So unappealing, in fact, that I stopped visiting the gallery until recently. I'm afraid that your new renovations will result in a similar drop in quality- I was just learning how to get around, and would be seriously disappointed if I had to relearn the paths to such interesting exhibits such as "The Dog, The Cat, and the Apparent Binary Choice" in the central northern section of the Gallery.
Thank you for your consideration,
Iceman
Oh come on, curiosity sucks. Have fun with my bounty, Mr. Lowery. What was it, about 20K? I'm gonna post my house I think, because I enjoyed watching the tapes but nobody made any real progress so I guess it was just too hard... Can I make a mapshot from a recorded game?
You should be able to- just play back the game, and when you're in edit mode press escape to stop the playback, then + to take a mapshot.
Time to watch the replay!
EDIT: Haha, you seem to have been lured in by the button of DOOM!!! You had a 25.5k bounty- pretty nice, if I do say so myself. People are making quite a bit of progress, so I want to wait a bit before revealing the secret that makes all of these tapes so funny! Also, I hope whoever robs Lowery shares any secrets they might have noticed near the end...
Well, congratulations- your house has multiple solutions! My method seems to work, although it's a bit longer than yours. Here's a video of both solutions, for those who want to seem them in action:
http://www.twitch.tv/iceman012/b/524253874
I start out dying, but Stefan's solution starts at 0:40, while mine starts at 2:15. I killed a cat, though
Oh, I see- I missed how the button there is a red herring. Actually, on second thought, that doesn't change my solution. Anyways, I want to see your solution- I have an idea of how you did it from what you said, but I can't tell how it would actually work out.
Could you post a castledraft link? I want to try this myself, instead of just looking at it
Here's my solution:
Walk to the leap of faith, making sure the left-most dog survives. Step on the button, electric floor, button. Go to the left to pick up your dog, then cross the leap of faith.
Go up to the cat hallway, press the first button twice, open the door (the cat will get stuck on the lower powered door), and send the cat up into his prison.
Since the dog is following you, go down and get him to unpress both buttons on his side. Press one of the buttons to open the top door, then run to the bottom one. You'll get through, while the dog will get stuck. Make sure the button on the right side of the door is pressed still, and that the hallway button is pressed after you pass it. Take the far right hallway past the powered doors.
In Galactus' mouth, get the cat stuck by the left powered door. Open the door above him, then send him across the trapdoor as a sacrifice for your robbery. He'll open the powered door, letting you see the dog.
We have to get the button in Galactus' neck pressed, though. Move along his left cheek to dance the dog stuck at the bottom of the house, unpressing his side of the door. Go back down, press the hallway button to open the door, and run back to Galactus. The dog should be about 5 spaces behind you, so you can cross the powered door at the chin before the dog closes them.
Go up the left side of Galactus' head until the dog opens the door. At this point, the cat that crossed the trapdoor has gone back down, putting that hallway back exactly the way it was. Go up until you see the dog, head back down, and cross the trapdoor. The dog will fall in, and you'll almost be at the safe!
Press the button at the middle of the top of the map twice. Step into the cat's view, left once, right, then cross the trapdoors. Make sure the powered door is open, continue down the hallway- the cat will shut it and get stuck. Open the door on the left going up, go back to get a cat, and send the cat up to his prison.
Go to the vault.
???
PROFIT!!!
That was really fun to figure out I love how you have to do that dance with the dog you've forgotten about, and how you reuse that trap in Galactus' head three times! Also, it's a bit amazing, but not a single cat died that day...
I appreciate the efforts of whoever's trying to brute force Lowery's house- the security tapes are quite entertaining! I'll let you in on a secret when you finally reach my treasure chest
Also, you gave me this awesome screenshot:
I killed Michael Phelps!
Easter eggs? In the dark? Not interested.
Actually, no... there aren't any easter eggs in Ichabod's house.
Anyways, we're up to 26 deaths, and every pit in the house has been filled in on the map. Just to give you poor, lost souls a little sliver of hope, I've even shown where the vault is!
Good luck
You are probably right...What's the attendance like on the free server right now?
Well, on Fortress Theory, the max I ever got in 1 day was 17 unique players. It looks like there might be 6 "regulars", and since I released the update there's been about 10 on average. As for MMaster's server... I'm not sure, but when I logged in a few days ago the houses looked like they hadn't been touched in a long time.
Cullman, I don't think waiting is going to produce more people to try your idea; just the opposite, in fact. I don't think there's going to be a very big increase in forum visiters. I think that almost everybody who visits the forum said they'd support your idea (I'm actually a bit surprised you got 17 people, actually). Almost everybody who plays the game but doesn't check the forums isn't going to come here when they get desperate. They're just going to stop playing. Like you said, 17 people might not make it worth going through with your plan... but I don't think you're going to get any more by waiting.
Lelelleleelelleelelell. I found some easter eggs. Also realized I crash whenever I try this darkness shit with 835 tiles. pft.
Shhhhhhh.... don't tell anyone about the easter eggs And wait, you tried to make a house with 835 darkness tiles?
Hmm no. Even tools don't help. You get a lot of 3-step tapes don't you?
Yeah- the (valid) record so far has been 32 steps. I do have a nice, 230 step tape, but it's one where the player can't decide whether they should go around the wooden walls or straight through them. Considering he's seen my whole map, I suspect it's going to be broken soon. Still, I'll keep on giving more information about the house- here's 12 pits for 12 deaths, as well as a few extra dogs thrown in
And now they've disconnect scouted me. Really?
You were the one who painted my house all over weren't you?
Nope, although I really need to start doing that
Oh, I didn't think of that. So I could have the same painting with the same name and title instead of every single painting in the game?
You mean have every painting be the exact same? Yeah- you'd just delete all of the folders in gameElements/gallery except the one you want, copy it 153 times (or whatever the painting count is), and then change the numbers in info to go from 2000 to 2152.
